Breathtaking Scenery At Iconic Mountain Camping Parks

If you’re a photographer at heart or simply appreciate those kind of backdrops that wedge a place in your memory long after the holiday, then you should take a look at these mountain camping parks which have some of the best views around!

Camping Jungfrau, Switzerland

Camping Jungfrau, Switzerland

Surrounded by 72 waterfalls and set amidst snow-capped mountain peaks, Camping Jungfrau in Switzerland, nestles in a lush green valley and enjoys an idyllic mountainside setting with a magnificent vista. Click Here For Booking Details

Camping Jungfrau is a cosy, family-run mountain camping park with an authentic Alpine atmosphere. There is direct access to the River Weisse. It’s also perfectly situated for a visit to the iconic Eiger glacier. Lauterbrunnen, where Camping Jungfrau is located, is a very charming village in it’s own right. Other imposing mountains nearby include Monch and Jungfrau. Traditional facilities such as a cable car ride to enjoy the dramatic local scenery are all close at hand. The nearest airport is Zurich or if you prefer to drive it is about 10 hours from the Channel ports.

If you are planning to drive into Switzerland by motorway, you will need a vignette, a sticker showing you’ve paid the Swiss motorway tax. These can be purchased at customs posts, service stations, garages and post offices on the border, or in advance from the Swiss Centre (tel 00800 100 20030). Failure to do so will leave you liable to a fine. The vignettes are valid for 12 months regardless of how long you stay. They’re not required on non-motorway roads but you will probably find that very restricting when travelling about in Switzerland unless only planning to stay close to the border.

Camping Seeblick Toni, near Kramsach in Austria, is in a lovely lakeside location in the Austrian Tyrol. A great spot to stop on a touring holiday, there is no swimming pool but the nearby lake is a handy alternative. It is one of the warmest lakes in Austria. Make use of the free mountain pass to visit the nearby mountains via the ski lifts and take in the breathtaking scenery. After that, dine out at the restaurants located for skiers in the winter and walkers in the summer. There is also a restaurant with a largely Tyrolean menu at Camping Seeblick Toni itself.

As with any mountainside location, the weather can be a lottery with rain and mist rolling in periodically. As well as booking directly, the campsite can also be booked via the Camping and Caravanning Club.
