Eurocamp Pulling Out From Several French Camping Parks

Eurocamp are pulling out from several French camping parks. This includes some of their most popular locations such as Les Peneyrals, La Palombiere, La Bastide en Ardeche and Soleil Plage.

The full list they are withdrawing from is as follows:

Le Littoral in Les Sables d’Olonne;
Les Ilates in Ile de Ré;
Les Peneyrals in Salignac;
La Palombiere in Sarlat;
Camping Club Mar Estang in Canet;
Domaine Du Verdon in Castellane;
La Bastide en Ardèche in Sampzon;
Soleil Plage in Vitrac.

For the moment they are all listed on Eurocamp but if you enter any dates at all for them in 2019, they come up as unavailable regardless of which dates in 2019 you choose to enter.

Eurocamp Pulling Out From Several French Camping Parks

La Bastide en Ardèche in Sampzon is one of the camping parks in France which will no longer be available through Eurocamp.

There are a variety of different reasons for Eurocamp pulling out from these locations. Some such as Les Peneyrals and Soleil Plage have been bought up by other camping companies. Sandaya have bought Les Peneyrals and Le Littoral and Tohapi have bought Soleil Plage. Tohapi incidentally are the owners of Canvas Holidays. Others have simply opted to market themselves away from Eurocamp.

It is important to stress that all the camping parks listed above plan to reopen for next year. It’s just that they will no longer be available through Eurocamp. You will still be able to book them directly or through a different operator, such as Sandaya or Tohapi. If booking through an operator or business based outside of the UK that you might not have the same level of payment protection on your holiday such as you would get through ABTA when booking through Eurocamp.

Eurocamp pulling out from several French camping parks

Camping St Avit Loisirs in the Dordogne near Le Bugue, one of over 100 camping parks in France still available with Eurocamp in 2019. Click Here For Booking Details

Eurocamp stress that they are actively seeking alternative camping parks to replace those no longer available through them. To keep things in perspective, there will still be over 180 other camping parks available to book through Eurocamp, well over a hundred of which are in France, with the likelihood of more being added in due course. Watch out for further updates!

Cepo Verde (Near Braganca, North-East Portugal)

Camping In Portugal

Cepo Verde is in a lovely hillside location in ancient woodland near the north eastern border between Portugal and Spain. Click Here For TripAdvisor Reviews

Cepo Verde is situated in the Parque Natural de Montesinho in the north-east of Portugal, close to the Spanish border.

An excellent location for a break if you are heading into Portugal from one of the ferry ports in Northern Spain or driving from the French border, or making your return journey, I had the pleasure of staying at Cepo Verde a few years ago when touring in our folding camper on a family holiday.

The campsite is located in woods on a hillside, about 10 kms from Braganca, amongst chestnut trees, oaks and cherry trees which provide plenty of shade on hot days. It is a very calm and peaceful location with beautiful scenery.

The campsite has about 40 pitches and they are all spacious and offer enough privacy. The sanitary accomodation is clean and comfortable. There’s a café/restaurant that is open all day and there’s a swimming pool to relax and unwind in. The people of the campsite were helpful and friendly. What more can you expect? Well the rates are very reasonable too, you pay about 14 euros a day for a camper and two persons, electricity included.

Yelloh! Village Camping Turiscampo (Algarve)

Camping In Portugal

Yelloh! Village Camping Turiscampo, near Lagos on the Algarve, has been receiving some rave reviews on TripAdvisor. Click Here To Read More

Yelloh! Village Camping Turiscampo, on the Algarve near Lagos, has been receiving some rave reviews on TripAdvisor recently, having gained a reputation for it’s friendliness, it’s facilities and for being spotlessly clean.

With a paddling pool, a huge spa pool, and a very decently sized Californian swimming pool, the pool area caters for just about anyone capable of using it. You should find there are plenty of sunbeds as well as a bar and restaurant next to the pool, and some grass terraces nearby if you prefer a bit more quiet. On top of which Camping Turiscampo is close to some of the Algarve’s biggest and most beautiful beaches.

There is a gym and a playing field for games and sporting activity. A roof has been added to one of the swimming pools. The pools are open throughout the year, though you’re advised to check with the management in case they are closed for maintenance or other reasons.

There is a bus service to Lagos that you can use not far from the campsite if you fancy a trip out without using the car.

Tourers are welcome, though with it sometimes being 75% full even in winter, it is a good idea to book ahead. The campsite is on a slope but the pitches are terraced. Most of them are shaded, which would be welcome on the typical hot days you get during an Algarve summer, though maybe not so welcome if you are a winter visitor.

A range of static caravan options can be booked through Yelloh.

Casa Fontelheira (Near Braga, Northern Portugal)

Camping In Portugal

Casa Fontelheira rents out luxury Glamping tents as well as luxury apartments near Braga in Northern Portugal. Click Here For TripAdvisor Reviews

Casa Fontelheira is a glamping business near Braga in Northern Portugal. You can rent out a luxury glamping tent or a luxury apartment. with luxury facilities including a heated pool. You’ll also enjoy the panoramic views in this charming setting. This is a small luxury holiday park off the beaten track about an hour’s drive from the northern Portugeese city of Braga.

Other amenities include a bowling alley, a table tennis table, a badminton court, a trampoline and a playing field for other sports of your choice.

Around the bar and restaurant area there is free wifi reception. BBQ and stone grill evenings are also amongst your eating options.

Countless olive trees, orange trees, cherry trees, walnut trees and other citrus trees round off this lovely setting.

Getting To Portugal

To get to Portugal by road you will need to make use of the Brittany Ferries services to Santander or Bilbao. The Bilbao service from Portsmouth is usually cheaper but will be longer as it usually stops in Roscoff in Brittany too. Another option is to make the much longer journey from the Channel Ports or the Eurotunnel if you have the time to do so.

If you opt to travel through France as I have done myself a few stops in Western France such as Arcachon and the Loire will make the journey that little bit less onerous.

Alternatively, you can fly into airports such as Faro or Lisbon from UK airports. Eurocamp have a flight finder tool that might be of assistance to you: Eurocamp Flight Finder Tool

If you have a camping recommendation of your own that you think should also be included, then do let us know. We’d be pleased to hear from you.

Some Great Camping Parks In France For Beaches

My Selection Of Great Camping Parks In France For Beaches

If you love holidaying in France and also love great beaches, what could beat staying at a great camping park in France that backs directly on to one of it’s best beaches? Especially if, once you’ve arrived, you can park the car up until it’s time to leave, unless you’re ready for some sightseeing or retail therapy. Here’s my selection, in no particular order, of some great camping parks in France for doing just that.

1) Camping de la Baie, La Trinité-sur-Mer, South Brittany

Camping Parks In France For Beaches

Enjoy these beachside views when camping at La Plage and La Baie campsites in La Trinite-sur-Mer.
Click Here For More Details

Forgive me for some personal bias, but Camping de la Plage, located by the small resort of La Trinité-sur-Mer, South Brittany, was the site of my first family camping holiday way back in 1999. It still remains a great favourite.

Camping de la Plage takes both tourers and holidaymakers wanting a pre-erected tent or static caravan. As well as backing directly onto a sandy cove, a beachside bar and restaurant overlooks the bay too. Camping de la Plage also has it’s own swimming pool with waterslides and there are also two tennis courts, three table tennis tables and two boules pitches.

If you can’t get into Camping de la Plage, adjacent Camping de la Baie has similar amenities and access to the same beach via a slightly longer walk. In fact, there’s usually no difficulty using the amenities at both camping parks, regardless of which one you’ve booked to stay in.

The chic resort of La Trinite-sur-Mer itself is just a short walk away, with it’s scenic promenade, bars, shops and restaurants. All in all, a very agreeable place for a camping holiday.

2) Yelloh! Village le Serignan Plage, Languedoc

Camping Parks In France For Beaches

As well as being Al Fresco Holidays top ranked camping park in customer reviews, Yelloh! Village le Serignan Plage also backs on to one of the best beaches in the south of France. Click Here For More Details

Based on customer review ratings (9.5 out of 10), Yelloh! Village le Serignan Plage is Al Fresco Holidays highest ranked camping park. On top of that, it also has direct access to one of the best beaches in the south of France (as voted by Daily Telegraph journalists).

Amenities include a very popular tropical (heated) lagoon outdoor pool with a bridge and waterslides, a fun pool for youngsters with more waterslides and a pirate ship to play in. There’s also a heated indoor pool for those rare rainy days in the south of France.

There are 2 bars, a restaurant and a takeaway option. In high season, entertainment often continues up to midnight, so if sleep or an early night are a low priority, then this will be the place to stay.

There are plenty of facilities on the site such as a mini market, a butcher, a bakery, a fishmonger and Yelloh! Village le Serignan Plage also has an excellent reputation for being a friendly, clean and well-run camping park.

This is a large site, with over a thousand pitches so will be best suited to those looking for an action packed holiday. If that’s not your scene then a visit in a more off-peak period might be more to your liking.

Located just a few miles from Beziers on the Mediterranean coast of France, Yelloh! Village le Serignan Plage is a very popular campsite for families of all ages. Options for getting there include flying to a nearby airport such as Beziers or Montpellier or driving down from the Channel ports or Eurotunnel which will usually involve an overnight stay on the way down and back, unless you have someone to share the driving with.

3) Yelloh! Village Au Lac de Biscarrosse, Aquitaine

Camping Parks In France For Beaches

As well as being right next to Lac de Biscarosse, the second largest lake in France, Yelloh! Village Au Lac de Biscarrosse also has it’s own superb pool complex. Click Here For More Details

Yelloh! Village Au Lac de Biscarrosse is next to Lake de Biscarrosse, the second largest lake in France & a top camping park for beaches, with 5600 hectares of beach holiday brilliance right on your doorstep when you stay here.

As well as swimming and watersports in the lake, this superb new camping park also has a superb pool complex with slides and a kid’s splash area, an amazing spa and well-being area, top of the range new facilities and an entertainment programme for the evenings in high season. With bungee jumping and kite-surfing amongst the other activities on the lake, there’s no excuse for not finding enough action to enjoy during your stay.

This is a medium sized camping park with just under 470 pitches and is owned by the French holiday operator Yelloh!, one of the very best French camping holiday operators.

4) Camping Club Les Sablons, Portiragnes, Languedoc

Camping Parks In France For Beaches

With direct access you can walk straight from Les Sablons onto Portiragnes Plage, a glorious Mediterranean beach.
Click Here For More Details

With almost 800 pitches, Les Sablons is a large campsite with an excellent range of facilities: a lovely bar, restaurant, and fabulous pool complex, with no less than five swimming pools, including one for kids and a newly developed one just for over 18s including a water massage bed and Jacuzzi.

There’s a tennis court, a basketball court, no less than eight table tennis tables and two volleyball nets for further sporting options away from the pools and the beach.

In high season, it’s party time with indoor and outdoor discos and other entertainment. Portiragnes Plage itself is an upmarket resort with plenty of bars and restaurants for you to choose from, and a thriving weekly market that’s always worth checking out.

As well as having direct access to the beach at Portiragnes Plage, Les Sablons is also a great spot for walking or cycling along the nearby Canal du Midi. Not surprisingly, it is a popular destination that often gets booked out quickly in high season.

If you want to mix up your stay with one or two drives, Carcassonne and Montpellier are barely an hour away in opposite directions. Indeed the Spanish border is just over two hours away.
