Camping In Brantome

Camping In Brantome & The Perigord Vert

Camping In Brantome and the Perigord Vert puts you within easy reach of some of the most beautiful villages and small towns in the whole of France. This includes Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, Saint-Jean-de-Cole and Limeuil, all listed as a holder of the “most beautiful villages in France” award, Bourdeilles and it’s magnificent chateau and of course, Brantome itself, often described with only slight exaggeration as the “Venice of the Dordogne”. It is a very pretty town with a mix of medieval and renaissance architecture to admire in a lovely riverside setting on the Dronne, a tributary of the River Isle.

Here is a list of some potential good options for Camping In Brantome and the surrounding parts of the Perigord Vert.

1) Camping Brantome Peyrelevade

Camping Brantome Peyrelevade is about a 20 minute walk from the bars and restaurants along the Dronne In the centre of Brantome. The campsite itself is in wooded parkland in an attractive setting backing on to the Dronne itself, adding to it’s charm. There is a heated swimming pool next to the bar and restaurant area. The Wifi is said to be available throughout the campsite. The pitches were reasonably spread out, many of them having shade.

As well as pitches for your own tent, caravan, camper or motorhome, there are also a small number of pre-erected tents that can be rented as well as mobile homes. There are two toilet blocks for campers. Reserving in advance is recommended in high season. More details can be obtained direct from the campsite via http://camping-dordogne.net/en/the-site

Having had the pleasure of camping at Chateau Le Verdoyer on a family holiday some years ago, this camping park ranks amongst the very best I have stayed at. It has many facilities and is well run by it’s Dutch owners who are multi-lingual. A new heated, indoor swimming pool has recently been added to those facilities. There are pitches for tents, trailer tents, caravans and motor homes in a large field with well defined pitches. There are also pre-erected tents, mobile homes and caravans which can be hired on site and even five different rooms in the chateau itself.

The chateau is the location for the campsite’s restaurant if you fancy a change from making your own barbeques.

4) Belair Le Camping

There are other options for Camping In Brantome and the Perigord Vert such as Camping Puynadal which is further out from Brantome than Camping Peyrelevarde, featured above, and a bit smaller and cheaper. If there are any other campsites in this part of France you’d like to tell us about, hopefully good but bad too if you want to, then please feel free to make use of the Facebook comments box below. It will be great to hear from you.
