Camping Holidays In Spain
Camping Holidays In Spain On The Costa Brava & Costa Dorada
Unwinding on the warm sand of a Mediterranean beach, wandering through whitewashed, sleepy fishing villages such as Cadaqués, made famous by Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí, strolling through medieval fortress towns such as Pals and Ullastret. If that’s your idea of perfect holiday bliss, Camping Holidays In Spain on the Costa Brava or Costa Dorada puts you within easy range of more than 2,000 Mediterranean beaches and countless picturesque villages to explore.
Let’s then look at some of the very best camping holiday parks on the Costa Brava and Costa Dorada as voted for by those who should know, the holidaymakers who’ve booked holidays on them.
Camping Sanguli, Costa Dorada
Camping Sanguli on the Costa Dorada is Al Fresco Holidays top rated Spanish camping park with 5 stars & a 9.2 customer review ranking.
With it’s huge range of swimming pools with great water slides, an excellent location next to the resort town of Salou with it’s long promenade, shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, as well as it being so close to a huge sandy Mediterranean beach, Sanguli is a highly regarded family holiday park with something for everyone.
Amongst it’s other attractions Camping Sanguli also offers evening shows in an amphitheatre setting, a tennis court, four table tennis tables, a football pitch, a volleyball net, a basketball court and options for cycle hire so there’s no excuse not to be active or relax soaking up the entertainment on offer.
Cambrils Park, Salou, Costa Dorada
Topping the rankings at 9.1 out of 10 is Cambrils Park, bear Salou on the Costa Dorada. With a beautiful lagoon style swimming pool as it’s focal point, parents and other adults can soak up the Spanish sunshine or enjoy a cocktail from the swim up bar whilst the children are enjoying the water slides and fountains in the pool area.
With a reputation for being clean and well kept, there are five swimming pools in total, one of which has a man-made sandy beach. The lagoon pool has a bar and stage in the middle as well as waterslides.
There are plenty of other amenities including a tennis court, table tennis tables, a basketball court, playgrounds, trampoling nets and areas for other ball sports. Cycle hire is also an option and the seaside and it’s beaches are just a short walk away. There is plenty of on site entertainment and the nearest town, Salou, is within easy walking distance.
Accommodation at Cambrils Park is in the form of thatched roofed bungalows. There are pitches for 500 tourers. To find out more, continue reading via http://www.eurocamp.co.uk/campsites/costadorada/cambrils-park/
Camping Cala Gogo, Costa Brava
By common consent, Camping Cala Gogo enjoys the highest reputation amongst the larger camping holiday parks of the Costa Brava. As well as offering direct access to the location’s own private beach for your use and the sea, Camping Cala Gogo is packed with activities including: basketball, football, tennis and a play area. There’s a wonderful pool complex with two adult pools and a splash pool. In the evenings from the end of June, there’s also a disco at the beach bar.
If a trip to Barcelona appeals, there is a bus stop directly outside the campsite for the two hour bus journey there.
Tamarit Park, Tarragona
Tamarit Park has a large, tropical swimming pool surrounded by sunbathing lawns. A short walk will also get you down to a sandy Mediterranean beach, where kayaks and water scooters can be hired. The park has its own entertainment team with live shows and music in the amphitheatre during July and August.
Tamarit Park has it’s own beach restaurant with views to enjoy of both the Mediterranean and Tamarit Castle, a poolside restaurant and a bar. It also has a bakery, a minimarket and pizzeria so you should find there is plenty of choice both for dining and refreshments. If you wish to explore further afield, Barcelona is about an hour’s drive to the north.
Practical Information
There are three main ways to get to the Costa Brava and Costa Dorada. Firstly by air to nearby airports such as Gerona, Barcelona or Reus which can be booked either with or separately from your holiday operator. Secondly, you could use the ferry route to Bilbao and then head across by road, depending on the traffic this could easily still involve a five hour drive. Thirdly you could head down from the Channel coast if you’ve got the time. If you are having a 2 or 3 week holiday or longer, that can be done without being too onerous with other stops as part of your holiday, either by adding extra campsites to stay at or one or two hotel stops. Indeed that is an excellent way to get further afield at your own pace as I myself have done on several trips as far as Spain, Italy and even Portugal.
