Still Open During The Autumn

October Half-Term Offers Across The Channel

Still Open During The Autumn, October Half-Term Offers

Vilanova Park, Spain. Open until 29th October

As you probably know, the majority of French camping parks have closed for the winter by mid-September. A handful are still open for business, even as late as the October half-term.

In Spain, Vilanova Park and Playa Montroig, both on the Costa Dorada north of Barcelona are open until the 29th & 31st October respectively.

If you prefer a holiday closer to home, the popular camping parks close to Paris at International, La Croix du Vieux Pont and Paris Est Champigny are open until the end of October whilst Duinrell in Holland (which has it’s own theme park with free access to holidaymakers staying on the campsite) is open until 4th November.

Despite the weather often still being ideal, most of the French Riviera and Italian campsites have long closed but Holiday Marina at Port Grimaud, close to St.Tropez, is a rare exception. In Italy, Bella Italia at Lake Garda is open until 30th October.

Eurocamp have October half-term discounts of up to 30 per cent for a sample of these locations. Their list of what’s still available is regularly updated. You can view it at http://www.eurocamp.co.uk/october-half-term-offers

If you’re fortunate enough not to be tied to the half-term week, the choice is wider earlier in October.

It’s strongly recommended you check which facilities are still open for the time of your intended stay as some, such as an outdoor swimming pool, might have been closed for the winter.

Bella Italia, Lake Garda is available for a week for £197 in the October half-term. Click Here For More Details

As the summer holiday season draws to a close, if you resisted the temptation to holiday abroad, you’ve hopefully been rewarded with better than average weather in the UK. Reports are that holidaying in Western Europe has been much more expensive in July and August with the recent falls in the value of the pound. If you feel you’ve missed out by not going abroad, or if you have still holidayed abroad this summer and want to squeeze another one in without breaking the bank any further, there are some great bargains to be had in Al Fresco Holidays September & October Holiday Discounts.

Family holidays in the October half term start from just £197 for 7 nights and that’s for up to 6 people at Lake Garda in Italy (pictured above). It must be close to a steal with a 40& discount. If you’re not tied to the school holidays there are plenty of other offers too throughout September & October.

If you’ve got the time, you could even put together a multi-centre trip by staying at more than one location over a longer period of time.

There are vacancies in many locations in France, Italy, Spain (including Sanguli on the Costa Dorada near Tarragona, north of Barcelona, pictured below) and Croatia, though most of the French camping holiday parks are closed by mid September. Camping In Weymouth

Touring & Camping In Weymouth – Some Of The Best Options

With a wide choice of sandy beaches and coastal walks and some excellent locations, Camping In Weymouth is understandably a very popular holiday choice. Haven Holidays is the largest camping holiday operator in Weymouth with three highly rated camping parks at Seaview, Weymouth Bay and Littlesea. There are also a host of other smaller locations, of which West Fleet Holiday Farm and East Fleet Farm Touring Park usually get great reviews.

1) Haven Weymouth Bay

Camping In Weymouth

Weymouth Bay’s Lazy River feature.

Weymouth Bay is the biggest of Haven’s camping parks in Weymouth. Located on a hillside overlooking Weymouth Bay, the beaches of Weymouth are a short walk away. That’s a considerable bonus as parking and driving in Weymouth is notoriously hectic in peak periods, with parking spots often hard to come by.

Facilities at Weymouth Bay include heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools, the outdoor pool having a lazy river, plenty of space for ball games and picnics, an outdoor play area, a cafe bar and restaurant with a terrace and plenty of evening entertainment.

For a full breakdown of what Haven have to offer at Weymouth Bay and direct booking options online, please refer to http://www.haven.com/parks/haven-weymouth-bay/

2) Haven Seaview

Camping In Weymouth

Safari tents are just one of the accommodation options at Haven Seaview.

Seaview is the neighbouring Haven location to Weymouth Bay. The two camping parks are linked by a scenic footpath and holidaymakers at each of the two sites are encouraged to make use of the facilities at both locations. Seaview is a quieter alternative to Weymouth Bay, but still has plenty of facilities in it’s own right. These include it’s own heated indoor and outdoor pools, a waterslide, a sports field and it’s own Cafe Bar and Show Bar.

Seaview also comes with a glamping option, with safari tents being one of the accommodation options on offer. If you prefer your own tent or caravan, there is space for tourers at Seaview too (unlike Weymouth Bay where all accommodation is static). To find out more about enjoying a holiday at Haven Seaview, please refer to http://www.haven.com/parks/haven-seaview/

3) Haven Littlesea

Camping In Weymouth

As well as great facilities, Littlesea has wonderful views of the coastline, including Chesil Beach

Unlike Weymouth Bay and Seaview, Littlesea is located to the west of Weymouth, making it an ideal area for reaching nearby Chesil Beach. As well as indoor and outdoor swimming pools, Littlesea holidaymakers also have free use of two modern tennis courts. Other available sporting facilities include archery, fencing and pool tables.

Touring is encouraged at Littlesea, with a total of 155 pitches. Space is provided on each pitch for awning and car parking. It is just a five minute walk to get to the facilities in the main area.

Littlesea has all the catering, bar and entertainment features typical of Haven locations. You can of course, join in as little or as much of it as you choose. The beauty is that it’s always there as an option on your doorstep.

Haven have invested a lot in upgrading Littlesea, so if you haven’t visited for more than a few years, you’ll notice quite a difference if you choose to return. Find out more by referring to http://www.haven.com/parks/haven-littlesea/

4) West Fleet Holiday Farm Campsite

Camping In Weymouth

West Fleet Holiday Farm is perfectly located for visiting nearby Chesil Beach

Not everyone wants to stay at a Haven Camping Park. For those of you who would prefer a quieter, less commercial alternative, my first choice would be West Fleet Holiday Farm Campsite. I’ve stayed here several times. It has a heated outdoor swimming pool, an informal bar in a barn setting and a three acre playing field for children and adults to exercise in. The campsite also has it’s own wifi which can be accessed for a small fee.

There is space for tents, trailer tents, motor homes and caravans, though if you’re planning to visit in a larger vehicle, particularly a caravan, it’s always best to check in advance in case space is not available.

5) East Fleet Farm Touring Park

Camping In Weymouth

A view from East Fleet Farm Touring Park

Unlike the other four locations, I’ve yet to stay at East Fleet Farm Touring Park. I include it however as so often it achieves the highest score on TripAdvisor out of all the camping locations in the Weymouth area. It’s also been awarded 5 Gold Pennants in the AA’s award for touring parks and campsites scoring over 90% on inspection.

For full information please refer to their website at http://www.eastfleet.co.uk/

East Fleet Farm Touring Park clearly sets high standards. If you’ve been there please free to give us your own review or just a few comments that might be helpful to fellow readers here.

There are many other fine locations for camping in Weymouth including, in no particular order, Higher Moor Farm, Sea Barn Farm, Pebble Bank Caravan Park and Bagwell Farm Touring Park. These all seem to score very highly in reviews. The best place to check them out and find booking information would be https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Camping-In-Weymouth

This is not an attempt to provide a comprehensive list of all the options for Camping In Weymouth, just an introduction to some of the best of them. If you have your own favourite, or even one to avoid, why not give it a mention in the Comments section below. Who knows, it might help someone to have a great holiday camping in Weymouth.
