Mountain Camping Parks
Breathtaking Scenery At Iconic Mountain Camping Parks
If you’re a photographer at heart or simply appreciate those kind of backdrops that wedge a place in your memory long after the holiday, then you should take a look at these mountain camping parks which have some of the best views around!
Camping Jungfrau, Switzerland
Camping Jungfrau is a cosy, family-run mountain camping park with an authentic Alpine atmosphere. There is direct access to the River Weisse. It’s also perfectly situated for a visit to the iconic Eiger glacier. Lauterbrunnen, where Camping Jungfrau is located, is a very charming village in it’s own right. Other imposing mountains nearby include Monch and Jungfrau. Traditional facilities such as a cable car ride to enjoy the dramatic local scenery are all close at hand. The nearest airport is Zurich or if you prefer to drive it is about 10 hours from the Channel ports.
If you are planning to drive into Switzerland by motorway, you will need a vignette, a sticker showing you’ve paid the Swiss motorway tax. These can be purchased at customs posts, service stations, garages and post offices on the border, or in advance from the Swiss Centre (tel 00800 100 20030). Failure to do so will leave you liable to a fine. The vignettes are valid for 12 months regardless of how long you stay. They’re not required on non-motorway roads but you will probably find that very restricting when travelling about in Switzerland unless only planning to stay close to the border.
Camping La Ravoire, Annecy
Rated 9 out of 10 in reviews on Eurocamp & 4.5 out of 5 in reviews on TripAdvisor, Camping La Ravoire, near Annecy in the French Alps scores very highly both for location and for it’s facilities. With fantastic Alpine scenery on all sides, it is a small site just a short walk from Lake Annecy itself and other streams. There are sandy beaches that are ideal for paddling and leisurely canoeing and sailing on the lake.
There are three swimming pools, including an indoor pool for the inevitable cooler, damper temperatures that sometimes occur. There is also a bar, a grocery store and takeaway dining service.
There are flat, grassy pitches for tourers, separated by tidy hedges. There are also mobile homes and pre-erected tents which you can book either directly from the campsite or from Eurocamp.
Camping Manor Farm, Interlaken, Switzerland
Camping Manor Farm is a spacious lakeside camping park in Switzerland just a few miles from the resort of Interlaken. There’s a range of water sports to enjoy on beautiful Lake Thun, including swimming, windsurfing, canoeing, dinghy sailing and pedalo hire. There’s no pool in the camping park itself as Lake Thun itself has plenty of suitable beaches. Away from the lake there are plenty of cycling and walking trails to enjoy the spectacular Alpine scenery. A free pass to use the boat service to Interlaken can be obtained from camping reception, and a bus pass for getting there quicker.
There is a bar and a restaurant on the premises and a grocery store, as well as a games room and a takeaway. There are at least three popular restaurants a short distance from the campsite too.
Camping Manor Farm makes for an ideal combination of a pleasant, peaceful and attractive Alpine setting with easy and convenient access to plenty of lively locations and amenities in the area.
Camping Bella Austria, St Peter Am Kammersberg, Austria
Set in the heart of the Katschtal Valley, Camping Bella Austria is a relaxing camping park with a wide choice of outdoor pursuits nearby. These include plenty of scenic mountain treks on your doorstep for walking or cycling (bicycles are available for hire) and the nearby Mur River which has several watersports options, including white water rafting. The owner enjoys laying on guided informal tours into the splendid countryside surrounding the campsite.
At Camping Bella Austria itself, there are 3 table tennis tables, 2 trampolines, a playground and a basketball court. There is an outdoor swimming pool and a toddler pool open in high season. If the pool is important to you, it’s best to check the dates and times that it is open in advance of your booking. There is also a mini farm for little animal lovers, and a small wellness area for you, including a traditional Austrian sauna.
Camping Bella Austria is a small site with just 230 pitches. There is a range of static caravan and pre-erected safari and classic tents to choose from. Tourers are also welcome.
There is a restaurant at Camping Bella Austria and a small grocery shop, however it is only open until 9AM and the nearest supermarket does not open on Sundays, so you are recommended to arrive with plenty of provisions to begin your stay here.
Camping Bella Austria is a perfect location for getting away from it all and enjoying the majestic Alpine scenery, especially if you prefer more isolated locations.
Natterer See Campsite, Innsbruck, Austria
Natterer See Campsite, near Innsbruck in Austria, is a great place for grabbing your walking shoes or jumping into the saddle, so that you can roam from one spectacular view to another. Younger family members are not forgotten either, as the adjacent lake includes a 66 metre-long water slide and a water trampoline. The Alpine capital city of Innsbruck is also nearby. Some of it’s monuments date back to the fifteenth century.
Airotel Pyrenees Campsite
Situated next to a stunning National Park, and with the historic town of Luz St Sauveur just 800 metres away, Airotel Pyrenees Campsite has a stunning, natural location. There is also a wide range of accommodation options, including stylish safari tents and mountain lodges. There are three swimming pools to choose from, plus a small spa that has a jacuzzi and sauna. The nearest airport is Lourdes, whilst the nearest port is across the border in Bilbao.
Camping Seeblick Toni, Kramsach, Austria
Camping Seeblick Toni, near Kramsach in Austria, is in a lovely lakeside location in the Austrian Tyrol. A great spot to stop on a touring holiday, there is no swimming pool but the nearby lake is a handy alternative. It is one of the warmest lakes in Austria. Make use of the free mountain pass to visit the nearby mountains via the ski lifts and take in the breathtaking scenery. After that, dine out at the restaurants located for skiers in the winter and walkers in the summer. There is also a restaurant with a largely Tyrolean menu at Camping Seeblick Toni itself.
As well as welcoming tourers, there is a range of camping, glamping and holiday apartment accommodation available
As with any mountainside location, the weather can be a lottery with rain and mist rolling in periodically. As well as booking directly, the campsite can also be booked via the Camping and Caravanning Club.
2016 Early Booking Discounts
2016 Early Booking Discounts For European Camping Holidays
If you are already sure of where you want to go for your camping holiday in 2016, and when you want to go, a lot of value can be had taking one of the 2016 Early Booking Discounts now on offer from several of the leading camping holiday operators. To help you get started here’s a summary of some of the main offers.
Al Fresco 2016 Early Booking Discounts
The biggest savings on Al Fresco Holidays are to be had for camping holidays up to 3rd June and after 3rd September 2016. From 4th June, the discount goes down to 15%, and 10% from 2nd July to 2nd September. The booking is currently available up to 5th November. Your chosen holiday can be secured with a deposit of just £50 up to the 5th November and if you are able to travel mid-week a Dover to Calais ferry crossing is thrown in at no extra cost.
On top of this, Al Fresco also offer loyalty bonuses on a tiered basis depending how often you’ve holidayed with them before.
You can get further details from them directly via http://www.alfresco-holidays.com/2016-early-booking-offers/
Eurocamp 2016 Early Booking Discounts
Eurocamp’s 2016 Early Booking Discounts are based around a combination of early booking discounts and loyalty bonuses if you’ve booked with them before. To get the full 25% discount you will need to book a date from 10th April to 27th May, 5th June to 14th July or 28th August to 21st October and to have booked with them before. You’ll also need to book at least 11 nights for your holiday, though of course it need not be in one place.
Otherwise the discounts reduce to 10% for stays outside the above dates for stays of 11 days or more, or 5% for 10 days or less. Having said that, this could still be a substantial discount and worth considering.

Selectcamp 2016 Early Booking Discounts
Selectcamp are a much smaller operator than Al Fresco or Eurocamp, but are very much worthy of consideration.
The 40% offers are for holidays taken up to 9th July. From that date, the discounts go down to 10%. From 20th August the discounts go up again to 35%.
You can get more details via http://www.selectcamp.co.uk/early-booking-2016
This article doesn’t seek to be a comprehensive guide on 2016 early booking discounts, but just a little prompt to help you get started. You might also find more than one operator has a deal suitable for the camping holiday park that you want, in which case the thing to do is leave up a tab for each operator whilst you’re online and go through the booking process until the payment comes to be completed and then to just go ahead with the operator whose deal is most suitable for you if you’re sure you’ve got what you want.
It’s unlikely that your choice will ever be cheaper, unless you prefer to wait for the lottery of last minute deals nearer to the date of your holiday, when of course you run the risk of not having your preferred choice of location, and the dates you want, available. That option is better if you are much more flexible, and less choosy, on when and where you want to go.
Don’t forget that there are other operators worth looking at, including Canvas Holidays but I’ve not covered them at this stage as details of their offers for 2016 seem a bit vague generally. They could still be worth checking for comparison purposes, when it comes to particular holiday parks, especially if you qualify for any type of loyalty bonus by having booked with them before.
I’ll do my best to help you if you’d like that. Do feel free to use either the comments box or one of our Social Media platforms.
